This project concerns the creation of the first Day Care and Support Center for People with Disabilities in the city of Kozani, under the name 'Symplefsi

The Center addresses the needs of adults with mobility, sensory, or intellectual disabilities. Its philosophy is based on three key principles: inclusion, personal development, and autonomy. Users are first welcomed into a safe, supportive environment; then encouraged to accept their unique abilities and conditions; and finally empowered to evolve toward greater independence.

A multidisciplinary team of doctors and specialized professionals provides high-quality services such as rehabilitation for neurological and muscular disorders, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, nursing, and dietetics. In addition, creative activities, educational and recreational programs, and innovative training for social and professional integration are central to the Center’s mission.

The architectural design strictly follows national and European accessibility standards. Facilities include therapy rooms, offices for counseling and psychological support, a sensory integration room, a quiet room, and a training kitchen.

The spatial layout expresses the core idea of “Symplefsi” through a bold, curved structure at the heart of the ground floor. Shaped like an embracing arm, it welcomes users and gently leads them to the various therapy spaces. Interior elements—flowing lines, warm materials like natural oak, and calming greens and blues—create a non-institutional atmosphere that encourages engagement and well-being. Transparent partitions ensure openness while respecting privacy.

Completed in January 2024, the project embodies a human-centered approach, guiding each user from acceptance to autonomy—with dignity, purpose, and freedom.
